Our Process
Thinking about building with Jeremy Murphy Building? Here’s insight into our building process – from initial concept chats and comprehensive quotes, to pre-build assessments and the build itself. It might look complex, but we promise we’ve got your back. We’ll be with you every step of the way, ready to guide you through design, build and handover, culminating in the successful creation of a new, enduring space.
-
During our very first touch point, we’ll meet to talk about the dreams, ideas and plans you have for your build or reno, explain the services we offer and determine if we are a good fit for you. We may perform a site visit during this time. We encourage you to come to the meeting with as much information as possible.
-
After our initial meeting, we'll put together a personally tailored Preliminary Assessment Contract for you to sign and approve. We'll then carry out any preliminary assessments required for your build.
You may choose to cover some of the below yourself prior to our initial meeting, or have them included as part of our service to you.
Items included in your Preliminary Assessment Contract may include:
Soil testing
Site Survey
Bal Assessment
Draftsperson/Architect/Interior Designer fees
Energy Assessment
Engineering Assessment
Fees related to Planning and Building approval
Completion of these preliminary assessments and tasks allow us to produce:
An accurate scope of works, ensuring all your needs for the build are met and to minimise the need for changes throughout the building process.
A comprehensive Finishes Schedule detailing all selections, colours and finishes included in the project. This helps you to better visualise the end product and also assists the flow of the project.
An estimated Schedule of Works
A more accurate quote for your custom build
NB: If you have, or wish to, contract your own draftsperson/architect/interior designer, we will factor their plans/designs into your preliminary assessments and final building quote.
-
Once we’ve completed the preliminaries and design phase, we will provide you with a Final Specifications list and a formal quote for building works. Once you’re happy with the quote, we will organise your official HIA contract, Builders Indemnity Insurance and all relevant permits.
-
Now we get to the fun part: your build! During construction you’ll have regular updates from the builder on how the build is progressing.
We engage experienced local trades to complete work and Jeremy keeps a close eye on the project to ensure every element of your build is completed smoothly and to the highest possible standard.
-
Once construction has finished, we will walk you through your build and do a comprehensive check of our work prior to handover. We will then carry out a six-month site visit to ensure everything is in order. We offer a 6-year structural warranty on all of our builds, and follow up support as required.
Our goal: to leave you satisfied with not only your build, but the entire building process.
